What is a Boom Truck?

Boom trucks, sometimes referred to as bucket trucks or aerial lifts, refer to a wide range of vehicles that feature a hydraulic crane mounted on a commercial truck chassis. They offer vertical and horizontal reach and are extremely versatile for construction sites across the United States. From lifting heavy loads or personnel to high places to carrying construction equipment or building materials across the job site, boom trucks help workers in a variety of industries.

Common Features and Accessories

Our fleet of aerial lift rentals usually features a range of essential components for efficiency and safety on the job site:

  • A telescopic boom lift
  • Boom cylinder
  • Boom head
  • Outriggers
  • Flatbed

Additionally, our boom trucks include end attachments like hooks, winches, or cherry pickers. These attachments are vital for various applications, from lifting personnel to moving heavy equipment.

Why Rent a Boom Truck?

Boom trucks offer unrivaled versatility on the construction site. Their biggest advantage is the fact that they can typically be driven on freeways. This gives them a distinct maneuverability advantage over other mobile cranes, like all-terrain or rough-terrain cranes. In addition, they can also function like a flatbed truck, transporting materials or small machinery across a job site, or even across the city.

Various industries benefit from a boom truck crane, but these are some of the most common:

  • Construction Projects
  • Commercial Applications (Utility and HVAC Companies)
  • Warehousing
  • Repairs and Maintenance

Considerations for Using a Boom Truck

When choosing the right crane for your project, rent a boom truck for its seamless mobility through the surrounding areas of a construction site. These vehicles provide various benefits for outdoor projects, and these are the main things to remember:

Boom trucks offer unrivaled mobility for construction projects. Their ability to travel on freeways can’t be matched by other mobile cranes. However, on job sites with uneven or difficult terrain, it’s a good idea to have a rough terrain or all-terrain crane available as well.

Unlike larger vehicles, these cranes are great for tight spaces or smaller projects due to their compact size. Of course, they are a welcome, sometimes necessary, addition to larger jobs as well. Their versatility makes them a valuable addition to your rental fleet.

Boom trucks are generally the best cranes for lifting personnel. There is a wide array of options available when lifting someone to new heights for different applications.
