What is Structural Steel Erection?

Steel erection services work to erect the skeletal core or framework for a variety of miscellaneous steel structures like metal buildings, high rise structures, sports stadiums, bridges, or even something as small as a sign. This also includes the installation of metal decking and all planking used during the steel erection process.

What is the Steel Erection Process?

Steel erection activities involve the assembly of steel components through the use of cranes lifting, placing, and connecting them together. This connection is typically done by bolting the beams together, but welding is also used. At first, these bolts are not tightened all the way. After the frame is finished, the structure is checked to make sure that all the columns and column bases are aligned and level. Finally, the bolts used to connect the beams are fully tightened.

How Long Does it Take to Erect a Steel Building?

This depends largely on the scope of the project. You need to consider the size, complexity, weather, and the steel erection company you are using. For smaller projects, a team of steel erection specialists could get the job done in just a few days. However, larger scale, more difficult projects, can take up to a week or two.
