Darrell Clayborne

Darrell Clayborne is the Operations Manager for the Crane Department at the headquarters in Atlanta. Clayborne is a Certified Crane Operator and operates Superior’s LTM 1300 6.2 crane.  

Clayborne was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he began his career as custom stereo technician. He opened his own shop which he ran for 10 years before moving to Atlanta and pursuing a career as an operating engineer.

Clayborne completed the operating engineer apprenticeship in three years to become a journeyman operator and joined the Superior team in June of 2000. When Clayborne was still in his apprenticeship, he learned to operate Superior’s 200-ton crane, which was the company’s largest at the time. He enjoys getting to work on various exciting projects. Two that stand out are when he erected & disassembled roller coasters at Six Flags and operated a crane at the Atlanta airport to hoist a plane that ran off the runway.

Clayborne’s pride in his work, attention to detail and longstanding history with SRE led him to become Operations Manger of the Crane Department. He manages all operators and daily operations for Superior’s continuously expanding equipment fleet. He enjoys interacting with customers and making their task look easy firsthand and from an operational standpoint.
