What is a Lattice Boom Crane?

The largest mobile crane available in the construction industry, lattice boom cranes provide much needed power to the job site. The “lattice” refers to the “W” or “V’ pattern on the main boom, which gives it more strength. Despite their large size, lattice crawler cranes are versatile enough to function on many different types of terrains. These vehicles lift, move, and transport heavy loads across a construction site with ease.

Parts of a Lattice Boom Crane

There are a variety of features and accessories available for different models including:

  • Lattice Main Boom
  • Counterweight
  • Wide Tracks
  • Luffing Jib
  • Upper and Undercarriage
  • Load Blocks

There are also boom and jib extensions along with some other accessories that can help with specific solutions.

Why Rent a Lattice Boom Crawler?

This large crane is useful for a wide variety of applications from moving heavy equipment around the job site to lifting heavy loads up to towering heights. The best part about a lattice boom crane is that they are mobile, meaning they can move around the site to tackle different tasks.

Lattice Boom Crane Considerations

These massive vehicles have the highest lifting capacity you will find from a mobile crane in an industrial setting. Due to their large size, they are generally assembled on the construction site and remain there for the entirety of the project.

Another plus for the lattice boom crawler is that it can reach much higher than other mobile cranes thanks to its long boom length. This makes this crane a must have for most large scale construction projects.

The design of the boom allows for 360º of rotation, meaning a lattice crane, when positioned correctly, can access a great portion of the job site. Other types of mobile cranes feature telescopic booms, which give a bit more versatility on boom height.

If you are unsure about whether a lattice boom crane is right for your project, please reach out to our trained customer support team. We will walk through every aspect of your unique needs to make sure you are set up for success.
