This week we are spotlighting our Corporate Safety Director, Robert Nugent. Robert is 23 years old and married to Cathy Nugent. He has recently been awarded several awards for his outstanding work towards keeping Superior Rigging and Erecting Co. a safe working environment, including the AISC Safety Award, SC&RA Project Safety Award, and the SC&RA Crane & Rigging Safety Award.
Robert joined the Superior Rigging and Erecting team in March of 2016 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science and minors in Architecture and Business. As the Corporate Safety Director, Robert oversees the overall health, safety and well-being of the SRE workforce and workplace. He has contributed to lowering the incident rate by more than 300%, achieving outstanding commitment to the safety culture. Way to go, Robert!
A great day at work for Robert is completing all jobs safely without any incidents or injuries. So far, the most exciting job he has been involved with was the Mercedes Benz Stadium project because of the unique structural complexity and the ability to complete the job with zero recordable injuries. When Robert isn’t winning safety awards, you can find him hunting, fishing or lying back on a beach somewhere.
Robert’s advice to us: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Never conduct a task that you feel is unsafe. Plan and communicate at all times.
